Lesotho Council of NGOs to hold CSOs 2014 stakeholders meeting

Maseru - 19th November 2014: CSOs Health Advocacy Forum under the auspices of Lesotho Council of NGOs will hold a CSOs stakeholders meeting to assess the impact of civil society on HIV and AIDS. The event will be supported by the AIDS Health Care Foundation Lesotho (AHF) at Lancers Inn from 26th - 27th November 2014 at 8.30am.

The purpose of the meeting is to amplify the voice of CSOs nationally, record the key challenges encountered and assess their contribution to the HIV and AIDS agenda from 2010 to 2014. The meeting also seeks to identify key strategies for enhancing the CSOs contribution to the national response efforts and develop a CSO Charter on HIV and AIDS, including a declaration of commitment. The meeting will further seek to get the CSOs Health Advocacy Forum to support and adopt the 20/20 global campaign initiated by AHF, in having 20 million people on treatment by year 2020 as a building block to the 90/90/90 targets by 2030.

Lesotho Council of NGOs (LCN) Health and Social Development Commission established the Civil Society Health Advocacy Forum in January 2014. The Forum seeks to strengthen the commission's advocacy efforts on health specific issues and enhance coordination and collaboration among civil society organisations (CSOs) working on health and HIV/AIDS in order to support high quality service delivery and an effective national response.

In Lesotho, AHF provides HIV Care services to serving men and women and their families within the Police Service. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Lesotho, the AHF commenced providing HIV Care Services at its first centre at the Katlehong Clinic in Maseru in 2013.

The meeting is a build up to the commemoration of World AIDS Day; it will attract participation from CSOs, government and the development partners.
